Untitled (Talisman) is a print project in two parts, continuing the artist's exploration of signs, symbols and processes. In the wall work the dynamic imagery serves to activate the 'dead' space of the corner of a room, while the marbleized paper in the print version functions similarly by activating its space in an illusionary, psychedelic way. An explosion of precious objects is depicted; teeth, rings, bones, keys and puzzle parts all functioning as signifiers of critical bits of revealing information. Referring to Gordon's paintings in The New York Times, Holland Cotter writes, "The results suggest a species of hermetically coded folk art but have a physical airiness and an urbane breadth of reference."
