Editions Fawbush is pleased to announce the publication of Why Fly Like An Eagle, a new photographic work by the artist & celebrity photographer Jeremy Kost. The work, a digital print collage made with the artist's familiar Polaroid format, addresses one of his favorite themes: Objectification. The print, which clearly and lovingly references the work of both Warhol and Hockney, let's the viewer enjoy what the photographer clearly intends to lay bare. Many of Kost's photographs traffic in such direct voyeurism. They range from his insider-as-diarist work photographing the likes of the Hilton/Lohan/Love/Beckham crowd to the fabulous, and sometimes seedy, moments of various 'underground' and art scenes. In between, Kost trains his Polaroid on numerous young men. Why Fly Like An Eagle let's us focus on one of these intimate moments. "As though a social chameleon flung off the wall, Kost melds with his surroundings by building trust with his subjects--telling them with a smile or a nod that they are indeed the most beautiful of all. The repertoire he builds with his chosen models presents itself in each intimate portrait that he captures with the push of a button. Whether a celebutante veiled in a puff of cigarette smoke or a drag queen checking her make-up in a compact mirror, the figures represented in Kost's photographs are real, yet at the same time completely fictional. Jeremy Kost was born in Texas in 1977. His exhibitions include installations at the TriBeCa Grand Hotel coinciding with the Armory Show, 2007; Not A Play Area at the SoHo Grand Hotel, NY; and the W Hotel San Francisco, in association with the Yerba Buena Center For the Arts, as well as several gallery group exhibitions. His association with the fashion community has resulted in numerous commissions and related exhibitions. His commercial work has included shoots for Visionaire, Japanese Vogue, Elle, Giant, City, Anthem, and the New York Times. Jeremy Kost is represented in Washington, D.C. by Conner Contemporary Art.
